What is a Palmitoyl Oligopeptide? What do they do? and Why are they important to me?

THE SCIENCE BIT 👩🏼‍🔬in leyman's terms

What are Palmitoyl oligopeptides? What do they do? and Why are they important to use?

Palmitoyl oligopeptides are Pro-Collagen bonds of protein. They are very small and can penetrate the skin easily.

Imagine your skin as a piece of sponge. The sponge has little holes all over it, right! These little holes represent your pores. 👩🏼‍🔬FUN FACT: the average adult female has 20,000 pores on their face!

Take a penny and try and push it through the sponge, you can't! The penny is too big! The penny represents a whole collagen molecule. Now take a toothpick that has been cut into very small pieces. Try and push these through the sponge, they go through! The toothpick represents peptides...

When the peptides penetrate through the skin they link up and act like they keys that starts the engine in your car. They combine together to help form a new collagen molecule.

This is WHY they are so important..
1. They are small enough to penetrate through the skin
2. The help restore collagen in specific areas
3. By restoring collagen they plump out lines and wrinkles.

5 Reasons to STOP skipping Face Scrubs!

Turns out that exfoliating is actually a key piece of a good skin care routine and has all sorts of benefits you're probably not aware of. Here are five darn good reasons to exfoliate your face... tonight.

1. It makes your skin smoother
Exfoliating makes your face smooth and silky to the touch. It improves your skin's texture and makes it feel softer because it involves eliminating the old skin cells on top, says Dr. Elma Baron, a dermatologist at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. "It's smoother because you're removing the more dead layer on the surface and bringing out the new cells," she explains.

2. It helps counteract signs of ageing
Exfoliating can help combat signs of aging and give you a more youthful look because the older skin cells you're getting rid of tend to exaggerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Though our skin naturally sheds those cells, its ability to do it slows down as we age. Exfoliating can help the process along and hide some of the evidence that we are getting older. Yay!

3. It can stop breakouts
Using a scrub to exfoliate your face cleans and unclogs your pores, which in turn can prevent you from getting pimples. That's because clogged pores trap oil under your skin's surface, which leads to acne breakouts. That said, exfoliating can have the reverse effect, according to Baron, so it's important to be careful. "On the flip side, the irritation and the subsequent inflammation that can come about through exfoliation can aggravate acne, so it may backfire," she warns. "I've seen it go bad."

4. It's good for skin tone
Because exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells as well as extra dirt and makeup, it makes your skin tone brighter and evens it out. Your face will get a nice little glow. "The newer skin cells [that emerge when you exfoliate] are fresher looking," Baron says.

5. It helps your skin care products work better

Since exfoliating your face eliminates the dead skin on top, it lets your cleanser, moisturiser and other products penetrate more deeply and work better. If you always opt to skip out on exfoliating, they might not do the job as well because they can't get past that outer layer. "Your skin can receive moisture better when you remove dead skin cells, so it will look dewy," says beauty and style expert Elycia Rubin.

One caveat to all this, though: Don't overdo it.  Your face will thank you!

Bake your Make-up

2/25/2017

Good afternoon beauties as promised here is one of the first great "How to" beauty tips and tricks used by the celebs and top make up and beauty artists . So First there was contouring , then their was strobing now there is 'Baking"
You're already familiar with contouring and are wrapping your head around strobing, but now "baking," or "cooking" your makeup is making itself a part of the mix, cropping up on YouTube tutorials everywhere.
The term, which has been used in the drag community for years, refers to letting translucent powder sit on your face for five to 10 minutes, which allows the heat from your face to set your base foundation and concealer, and then dusting it off your face, leaving you with a creaseless, flawless finish. (Kim Kardashian's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic uses it on her so you know it's legit.) So here is how to BAKE your look !
